Pastor Joel Meyer was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2012, he accepted a call to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church after earning a PhD in systematic theology from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to the PhD, he also earned an MDiv from the same institution and a BA in theology from Valparaiso University.
Pastor Meyer sees the pastor as an under-shepherd of Jesus Christ. In that role, a pastor feeds and nourishes Jesus' flock with the gospel, tends to them on God's behalf through life's joys and challenges, and leads them to work together for the building up of the body of Christ.
Pastor Meyer is married to Stephanie, who plays an integral role in the Christian education at Holy Trinity. Together they have four children.
